Oh Canada!

July 26th - official date Cailyn became a CANADIAN Citizen!! The process did get expedited as I called them explaining she will not have health care coverage due to her not being a citizen in the very near future.  The woman who took my call was wonderful and said she would see what she could do to expedite it and it seems that call caused it to be finalized within a few days!!  YAY YAY YAY!
We have been very patient with the process, being Canadian that's what we do eh!  We are just thankful it is now complete and will anxiously check the mailbox daily for the official document to arrive!
Canada's newest little Canadian is a busy busy girl and walking is in her very near future.  She pretty much stands most of her waking hours.  Today she stabilized herself with no support for a few seconds, so she is definitely testing the waters.

Can never get close enough to Elmo!

At Lake Ontario - watching the waves and smelling the dead fish.
Last week a parcel came in the mail for Cailyn, and once I saw who it came from we just HAD to open it!  Taj and Alex from Australia sent Cailyn her very first 1st  birthday gift, and it was a hit!  Cailyn loves books and also to cuddle stuffed toys.   Thank you Taj and Alex for the wonderful gifts!! Cailyn opens the book alot every day and squeals at the babies!

Almost 1 year!!!

Cailyn is almost a year old, and I cannot remember the last time I actually relaxed on the couch - it was for sure before we headed to India to meet baby girl.  Cailyn is now a standing machine.  She stands wherever she can get hold of something for stability and has started to shuffle her feet, taking steps!  It is very exciting to watch this all happen, and sometimes a nail biter as to when she will fall and where she might hit her head.  All normal and lots of fun to be part of!

This is Cailyn at daycare with her friend Raine:

My friend Gen and I took the kiddos to an indoor playground which Cailyn really enjoyed!  The two boys in the picture with her are brothers.

The two little ones waiting for snacks after all that playing! You can see on the table the essential Starbucks for the moms!

Classic picture - we have worse but this is a public forum!   The heat has been pretty intense this summer and Cailyn has been enjoying her little pool.

Making headway on the hair growth!

We are taking every day by day with Cailyn, if today she stands alot and tomorrow not interested, that is ok by us.  This week on the NextFamily I write a little bit about the anxiety of infant milestones.

We are planning a party for Cailyn's first birthday.  I fully expect her to not appreciate it, and probably just want to nap.  That's ok by us, just we really want to celebrate it as we never imagined that we would be in this position!  To actually be able to say we are celebrating our daughter's 1st birthday is surreal, hard to imagine and comprehend. I am not sure when the reality of her in our life will finally just sink in to my thick head.  I guess 15 years of heartache takes a lot longer to put into the past...slowly getting there!
We were very excited to see Mandy finally, finally, finally announce the birth of her little girl!! Congrats Mandy and Rick, we are super thrilled for you!!!!

Here is an over or under exposed pic of daddy and his girl on Mark's 40th birthday!

How the time is flying!

Cailyn will be 11 months old on Tuesday - what?? Where did the time go?  We just love this little girl to bits and everyday is such fun with her in our lives, sure we are tired but it is all worth it!
Cailyn pulls herself up on everything so it won't be long til she stands and takes the first steps.  She has chosen to develop her vocabulary before standing and walking which is fine by us.  You cannot walk past her without her waving and saying Hi, or Bye.  She sings e i e i o alot now, alot!  She calls the cat by her name, she calls me Kerrie, yes, not momma, Kerrie.  She lights up when daddy comes home from work and she loves when her family visits and gets her all pumped up to then leave us with on wired little girl.  She has wonderful recognition skills, knowing what a butterfly is, or which book to grab when we tell her the title, or which toy to grab when we ask her to get it.  It is really incredible watching her skills.  And she loves to flip through the pages of books, and god forbid there is a picture of a baby in the book as she yells "BABY".

Trying to stay cool in the shade with a book - looks like her daddy here.

Also trying to stay cool by the AC vent in the floor.  Look at her hair!

Someone loves TV!!!
She has mastered the strangle hold - this may require therapy down the road!

Someone also loves books!

This week on the Next Family I wrote about the amazing friendships that can be made as you travel your path to parenthood via Surrogacy in India.
